PS4 Emulator for Linux

Vulkan graphics
Rendering is built on Vulkan, with ongoing work on synchronization, shaders, textures, and image handling. This is where much of the compatibility progress happens between releases.

- No guarantee that every PS4 game runs, or a full replacement for real hardware.
Unlike older consoles, shadPS4 does not use a "BIOS". It runs your own legally dumped PS4 games, and some titles may also need firmware modules dumped from a PlayStation 4 you own. The emulator is the tool; your legally owned game is the content. Downloading random PS4 game files from the internet is not part of the shadPS4 workflow.

How to play PS4 games on PC with shadPS4
Download shadPS4
Get the build for your operating system above: Windows, Linux, or macOS. Start with the stable build unless a specific game needs a recent nightly change.
Extract to a normal folder
Unzip it into a regular user folder such as Documents or Games. Avoid system-protected locations, which can cause strange startup and emulation issues.
Update your GPU drivers
Outdated graphics drivers are a top cause of crashes and rendering problems. Update every GPU in the system, including integrated graphics, before launching games.
Add a legally dumped game
Point the emulator at a PS4 game folder dumped from a copy you own. Game folders commonly use a CUSA-style title ID.
Set up your controller
Connect a DualShock, DualSense, or Xbox controller for the easiest setup. Keyboard and mouse input can also be configured.
Configure graphics
Confirm your GPU supports Vulkan 1.3, then launch the game. Adjust settings only after you see how the title behaves.

Update graphics drivers first
Most avoidable problems - crashes, black screens, failed launches - trace back to old GPU drivers or missing Vulkan support. Update Nvidia, AMD, or Intel drivers (including integrated GPUs) before anything else.
Legally dumped games & firmware
shadPS4 does not include games or firmware. Provide PS4 games dumped from copies you own, and, when a title needs them, firmware modules from your own console. No BIOS file is required.
