PS4 Emulator

About PS4 Emulator

What shadPS4 is

shadPS4 is a free, open-source PlayStation 4 emulator for Windows, Linux, and macOS. It reproduces enough of the PS4’s system behavior - CPU, graphics, memory, libraries, input and audio - that compatible PlayStation 4 games and applications can run on a modern computer. It is a community software project, not a company, and it does not own the PlayStation 4, its games, or any related content.

shadPS4 is still early in development. Some games are playable, some reach menus, some only boot, and many still need fixes - and that compatibility changes with every release. You can read the source, release history and contribution process, or get involved, at the official shadPS4 repository on GitHub. The project is free software under the GPL-2.0 license.

This site, ps4-emulator.app, is an independent resource that makes the genuine shadPS4 builds easy to find and explains how to install and use them. The files we link to are the official releases - nothing is repackaged, wrapped in a custom installer, or padded with extras. We do not provide PS4 games, firmware, or any copyrighted Sony files.

Privacy policy

The short version: this is a static information site, we are not in the business of collecting personal details, and there are no ads and no analytics on these pages.

What we ask you for

Nothing. There is no sign-up, login or form anywhere on the site that asks for your name, email or any other personal detail. We do not build visitor profiles, and we do not sell, rent or share personal data, because we do not gather it in the first place.

Hosting logs

As with practically every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps routine access logs - such as your IP address, browser and which pages loaded. That information exists so the site can stay online, fast and secure. We do not use it to identify you or cross-reference it with anything else.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies and runs no third-party tracking, advertising or verification scripts. Your browser’s own controls remain the final say over any storage.

Leaving the site

A download button or outbound link takes you off ps4-emulator.app and onto someone else’s service, such as the official release host on GitHub. Once you are on a third-party site, that site’s own privacy policy applies - it is worth a read, and it is out of our hands.

Children & updates

The site is meant for a general audience and does not knowingly gather information from children. This policy can change as the site evolves; the current version always lives on this page.

Disclaimer

shadPS4 is an independent, open-source emulator. This website is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the PlayStation brand, or the shadPS4 project. “PlayStation”, “PS4” and “DualShock” and related marks are trademarks of Sony Interactive Entertainment and are used here only to describe compatibility.

The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and it is early in development, so compatibility and stability vary by game, system and build. shadPS4 does not include any PS4 games, updates, DLC, firmware or console keys. Games must be dumped from copies you legally own, and any required firmware modules must come from a PlayStation 4 you own - obtaining games or firmware from other sources is your responsibility and may be unlawful in your country.

Use the emulator and any content in accordance with applicable law, local regulations and the terms of the underlying hardware and software. Any external content should only be used when permitted by the rights holder and the law.

We don’t publish a public email address or contact form. If you need to reach the operator of this site, contact details are available through the domain’s public WHOIS record - look up ps4-emulator.app with any WHOIS service and use the contact information listed there.
